School Attendance Over Vacation
Posted 11/13/18

Dear Parents:

We understand that your child's education is as important to you as it is to us. One of the most crucial parts of education is daily school attendance. It is very difficult for students to succeed if they are not in school on time, all day, and every day Therefore, we must inform you that pursuant to California Education Code $48260, students must be in school every day that school is in session. Although there are permissible reasons that a student may miss school, extending vacations is not one of them. Students and families who violate Education Code $48260 may be subject to a School Attendance Review Board (SARB) hearing, and possibly, Truancy Mediation. Please refer to the Pajaro Valley Unified School District's Calendar when planning family vacations.

Should you have any questions regarding attendance laws or policies, please contact Student Services at 786-2390.
